REFURBISHMENT OF "Katie" UPDATE Feb 2008

Work is just about finished on the two double cabins, which have now been repanelled in Maple faced plywood and look superb.  The crew cabin has been stripped of the last shreds of wall paper and new panelling has been done.  New bunk beds are to fitted a'la the train scene in "Some like it Hot" where Marilyn Monroe squeezed into the same bed as Jack Lemon!  On the other side additional wardrobe space is being provided and more storage shelves plus a work surface posing as a dressing table top.  We hope our guests will with the addition of heavy curtains across the beds feel more comfortable using it as a corridor.  The old floor carpets and cabin side carpets are being stripped out together with all the wet floor vinyls, and have now been renewed.

While all this was going on the Alvechurch painters were busy repainting the cabin sides and reinstating the lining and she looks great.  The sign writer has put the name etc back in a slightly different traditional style and add ed3, 4 and 7 day holidays to the sign.  Finally the galley work surfaces have been replaced, a new water pump fitted as the old one expired, new radiators put back in the double cabins with thermostat valves for improved comfort for our guests.  While all this is gathering momemtum the second shower will have it's make over with additional tiling, a new mirror and shaver socket.  Anybody know of a Tesco's with the small bathroom glass shelf in stock?  All other ones from the big sheds are too big!!

We are all looking forward to "Katie" back on her cruising circuit - she is off to Stratford and Warwick at the beginning of May - and we hope to welcome many of you onboard this year.

GUESTS' PHOTOS
Our web site and brochures would not be so colourful if our guests did not contribute their holiday snaps to us and offer them for our marketing. Some of images we have been given are excellent quality and many a cd that comes to us has some distinctive gems. We thank our guests for their help in this way as taking a photograph with the latest digital equipment or relying on the old 35mm film still fills the gap that would be there if we tried to get the number of photographs ourselves. We are very lucky to have a growing library providing such choice.

We have chosen our recent ones in the 2008 Itinerary.Schedule.Booking Form to thank the guests who took them.

Two Curious Swans with Ducks looking in at Humans – Stephen W from Berkshire. Descending the Stockton Flight. - Stephen W from Berkshire. Going back to the beginning – Eva M from Germany
This was used in a cropped form on our in the 2008 Itinerary. Schedule. Booking Form on the Price List page as a thumbnail. The cover picture on our 2008 Itinerary. Schedule. Booking Form in severely cropped form created by our designer. It is Katie coming out of a lock on the Stockton Flight featured on the Grand Union Canal. The immediate foreground and the bow was used so effectively to create an abstract scene which is becoming a regular part of this form. A picture that illustrates our transfer service for our guests at the end of a cruise with us. A unique service that is included in your cruise to take you back to your starting point and most of all, back to your car.

To all our future guests - please don’t hesitate if our crew say to you, please can we have a copies of your photo’s to use in our brochure.
